Founded by professional skateboarders Mike Carroll and Rick Howard in 1999, Lakai Limited Footwear is part of the Crailtap Distribution along with brands such as Chocolate Skateboards, Royal Trucks, Girl Skateboards and Fourstar Clothing. Designed and inspired by skateboarding Lakai is based on hard work and leading vision due to both Mike and Rick decided to found their own company and bring something new to the game rather than look for ways to be sponsored. After leaving the DC Shoes team rooster Lakai company founders also managed to recruit former Chocolate Skateboards team member Scott Johnston who took a Design Director position in 2013.
